Atlantic Islands

Welcome to the undiscovered Atlantic islands of Saint Helena, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Cape Verde. Prepare to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty that define these enchanting bucket list destinations.

Saint Helena Island, a remote gem in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, beckons with its storied past as the final exile of Napoleon Bonaparte. Explore its rugged landscapes, where lush greenery meets dramatic cliffs, and uncover the island's intriguing history at landmarks such as Longwood House, Napoleon’s former residence. And visit Plantation House, the Governor’s residence to meet Jonathan, the world's oldest known living terrestrial animal, a giant tortoise believed to be over 190 years old

Venture to São Tomé and Príncipe, where pristine beaches fringe emerald forests teeming with biodiversity. Discover the legacy of Portuguese colonialism intertwined with vibrant Afro-Portuguese culture, manifested in the island's music, cuisine, and architecture.

Lastly, journey to Cape Verde, an archipelago pulsating with rhythmic melodies and vibrant colours. Lose yourself in the lively rhythms of morna and coladeira music, and wander through charming cobblestone streets adorned with pastel-hued buildings.

Feedback from our Travellers

  • We've been using UD for more than 10 years and they are very much our go to travel company for organising the unusual and often some very challenging trips. Highlights include Sao Tome, combined with Cameroon.

Best Time to Visit

As this tour takes in a large swathe of the Atlantic Ocean the climate can vary between the different countries and islands visited. But in general, a good time to travel is from
November to March when any rainfall will be fairly minimal, and temperatures will be warm.
