Iceland
Holidays and Tours

From gorgeous landscapes to friendly people, Iceland has a lot to offer and has quickly become a very popular destination, especially for those looking for an unusual short break. But beyond the colourful capital Reykjavik and an obligatory dip in the famous Blue Lagoon, there is so much more to explore. For good reason Iceland is a country on many travellers’ bucket list.

It is a place where mighty forces shape the earth: geysers gush, mudpots gloop, ice-covered volcanoes rumble and glaciers cut great pathways through the mountains. To escape the crowds we encourage travellers to start their adventure in the remote east, which can be reached by ferry from Denmark.

Our approach to tourism in Iceland is different. Rather than jumping on one of the many low-cost flights from Europe we take our time. Our adventures begin with a voyage on the excellent Smyril Line cruise ferry from Denmark and before that, train from the UK. After a stopover in the little visited Faroe Islands, travellers disembark in the small town of Seyðisfjörður, located in the remote east of the country.

Pick-up a rental car and follow a carefully planned self-drive itinerary mostly driving along the spectacular coastal route to the capital Reykjavik. Along the way discover some of the country’s most spectacular sights and get up close to thundering waterfalls and erupting geysers. And put on some crampons and enjoy a guided glacier walk before reaching your destination, the world’s most northerly capital with its great outdoor spaces and museums.

Andrei was excellent and contributed enormously to success of trip. We got to places that we wouldn’t have done on our own. The itinery was excellent and in fact I chose trip because this was most comprehensive on market in UK. It was a good mix of different places, areas and experiences.

Why visit Iceland?

As Europe‘s least densely populated country, and as an island long isolated from the rest of the world, Iceland may seem like a strange choice of destination. But this a land of glaciers, hot springs, waterfalls and lava fields and with a largely unspoiled and surreal landscape it is a nature lover’s paradise. With miles of scenic roads which circle the country it is an ideal destination for self-drive trips. Stop along the way and get up close to thundering waterfalls and erupting geysers and take in a glacier walk.
