India – Gangtok
Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, Gangtok is famous for the handicrafts and Tibetan carpets that can be purchased there.
The city itself looks out onto Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, and is reason enough to travel to Gangtok. It is highly recommended to spend a night in Gangtok and rise early the next morning to head to the viewing point for Kanchenjunga. The early start will be fully justified as you see the sunrise over the magnificent mountain.
Make sure that your camera is fully charged but don’t forget to just sit back and take in one of the world’s most beautiful natural events.
