Bekaa Valley and Wine in Lebanon
The Beqaa Valley is a fertile valley in eastern Lebanon and the most important farming region if the country. The valley is 120 kilometres long and 16 kilometres wide and is blessed with a Mediterranean climate of wet, often snowy winters and dry, warm summers making it an ideal place to harvest grapes and where 90% of Lebanon’s wine is made. The south of the Valley is where the more fertile soils can be found with a large variety of vineyards ad orchard.
