Nicaragua Discovery Central America's best kept secret. Sleepy towns, active volcanoes, deserted beaches and pristine rainforest. A nation of poets and comedians, rum, reggae and revolution. Trip Rating: Traveller Day 1- UK to Managua Travel via the United States to Nicaragua, arriving the same day. Transfer airport to Granada hotel. Overnight Alhambra Hotel Day 2 - Masaya Volcano and Granada Morning visit to Masaya Volcano and market, followed by afternoon tour of Granada. Overnight Alhambra Hotel Day 3 - Cutirre Canopy Tour and Mombacho Volcano Reserve Excursion to Cutirre Canopy where we slide on cables that connect platforms located at the very top of the enormous trees. We will be assisted on the whole trip so we can enjoy this experience in comfort. After lunch, we visit the Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve for a 1hr 30min trek. This enormous cloud forest is full of lush vegetation and a large variety of birds and animals. Return to Granada Overnight Alhambra Hotel Day 4 - Lake Nicaragua Half day tour by kayak on Lake Nicaragua to the chain of islands called Las Isletas. This is a great way to appreciate some of the local birdlife. Overnight Alhambra Hotel Day 5 - Granada to Ometepe Island Guided transfer from San Juan del Sur to San Jorge Port in order to take the Ferry to Ometepe Island. Upon arrival at Moyogalpa (Ometepe Port) transportation will be waiting for a transfer to hotel. Remainder of the day free at leisure in Ometepe. (An optional tour of the island can be arranged locally) Overnight Villa Paraiso Hotel Day 6 - Climb of Maderas Volcano A very physical challenge, 5 to 6hrs hiking through lush vegetation with superb views. Overnight Villa Paraiso Hotel Day 7 - Return to Manuaga or Corn Island Extension Morning departure to Moyogalpa for the ferry to San Jorge Port where for those travelling as part of our extension to Corn Island, our representative will be waiting for the transfer to Managua and on to Corn Island. For those ending their tour in Managua our representative will be waiting for the transfer back to the capital. Overnight Casa Real Hotel Managua or optional extension to Corn Island (see itinerary below) Day 8 - Depart Managua Transfer to international airport for return flight to the UK, via the United States Day 9 - Arrive UK OPTIONAL EXTENSION TO CORN ISLAND Day 7 - Managua to Corn Island On arrival in Managua continue by local flight to Corn Island Overnight Martha’s B&B Day 8 - Day at leisure in Corn Island Overnight Martha’s B&B Day 9 - Corn Island to Managua Flight to Managua where our representative will be waiting for a transfer to the hotel in Managua Overnight Casa Real Hotel Day 10 - Nicaragua to the UK Transfer to international airport for return flights to the UK, via the United States Day 11- Arrive UK Top of page>> |
