What you will see Gabon possess some of the last surviving intact populations of elephants, gorillas and other large mammals on Earth. The forest’s harbor trees that have stood for over a millennium as well as countless species of plants and birds. A garden of Eden where man can admire waterfalls, and then see hippos bathing in the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. Off the coast the sight of whales displaying to one another, untroubled by predators, is one of nature's great spectacles Gabon offers stunning scenery, with majestic mountains overlooking pristine primary forest dotted with rocky outcrops and mighty waterfalls. The country is also well known for its superb wildlife. The Réserve de la Lopé, in central Gabon is the country's most accessible reserve, where you stand a good chance of seeing forest elephants, buffalos and a variety of primates. Tours by pirogue (local dug-out canoe), jeep and foot are available. In the many Bais, or forest salt licks, Gorillas forage alongside forest Elephants, Sitatungas, Red forest Hogs and a multitude of birds. Possibly the highlight for most visitors is to be had on the Atlantic coast at the Loango National Park. After a day of whale watching simply sit on the white sandy beaches and observe a family of elephants come down to play in the surf. An unforgettable experience for even the most well-travelled wildlife enthusiast.
