Most nationals will require a pre-arranged visa to visit Ethiopia. In some cases this maybe issued on arrival at Addis Ababa's international airport. For further information regarding visas, you should contact your nearest Ethiopian Embassy or contact our office for assistance.
Addis Ababa is relatively well served with flights from several major European cities as well as Dubai, which is becoming a major ‘hub’ for connecting flights to Africa. Generally our flight inclusive tours are based on travel with the Dubai based airline Emirates or direct from London with Ethiopian Airlines.
As with travel to most parts of Africa, we strongly recommend that you contact your Doctor’s surgery or a specialist travel clinic for up-to-date information, advice and the necessary vaccinations. For a visit of less than one month, almost certainly you will be advised to have immunisations against the following: Diphtheria and Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Meningitis. Anti-malaria medication will also be required and the use of a DEET-containing insect repellent is highly recommended.
We have a legal obligation to stress the absolute need to have adequate travel insurance, which should be taken at the time your trip is confirmed. These days there is a huge range of options available and premiums have never been more competitive. We constantly monitor the advice posted by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). The Travel Advice Service has been set up to guide tourists on the potential dangers they might experience when travelling to a certain destination. Much of the time we agree with them. However, on occasions we feel that their advice is ambiguous and over-cautious. It is accepted by many in the travel industry that the FCO has a duty to err heavily on the side of caution and assume that all people travelling are ill-equipped to judge conditions for themselves. But we feel that so long as we are duly diligent, seek local advice by consulting our numerous contacts in each region and are flexible with our route and itinerary, trips to even the most troubled of our destinations will pass off safely and without incident. As the advice issued by the FCO is being constantly up-dated we strongly recommend that you first see their website and then seek independent advice. For those clients resident outside of the UK we ask that you seek similar advice from the appropriate authorities in your home country. |
