Congo - Equator Province Discovery, 11 Days

Journey into the little visited interior of the epitome of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and discover DRC. A mass of sprawling rainforest, abundant nature and local culture. From Kinshasa we take a scheduled flight to the city of Mbandaka, capital of the Equator province located exactly on the equator line. We then travel out of the city using 4X4 vehicles and head deeper into the rainforest to discover a land of pristine nature and a fascinating culture. We use the rivers, as the locals do, as our highway to explore a truly unique landscape, delving deep into the rainforests, visiting small villages and a people completely untouched by the outside world.

Congo - Equator Province Explorer, 15 Days

The extended Equator Province Explorer covers the same itinerary as our Discovery tour but includes extra time to explore the Kinshasa area. While in Kinshasa we travel to the Malebo Pool and visit a small village located on a sandbank. Here we will meet the village Chief and take lunch. This extended itinerary also includes a visit to Chutes de Lukia, where you can swim in the natural lakes. A highlight is the visit to a Bonobo Sanctuary, where you can get close to these pygmy chimpanzees, the world’s most endangered ape.

Congo - River Expedition Mbandaka – Lisala – Kisangani, 17 to 29 Days

Our third itinerary is the ultimate Congo experience, a 1,000 kilometre voyage on the mighty Congo River from the city of Mbandaka to Kisangani or vice versa. Travel is split into two separate 16 day legs; Mbandaka to Lisala and Lisala to Kisangani, with the opportunity to do the complete trip. The expedition takes in remote villages, some of the country’s important historical sights, rain forests and of course a chance to meet the local people.
